Netherlands concluded their tournament with win after an narrow defeat against United States. In the early morning’s placement match the Dutch won Hungary after a tight contest.
Remo Speijers opened Dutch scoring on 11th minute and Sander Heinsbroek doubled the lead couple of minutes before half time. Goalkeepers Twan Hengst and Marton Herceg made several good saves.
Even though Peter Jankovics scored a late goal for Hungarians, it was merely a consolation. With Vincent Hole-Ruigrok’s goal the Dutch sealed victory and fifth place in the tournament. Hungary’s destiny was to finish sixth and last place.
Sweden recovered quickly from defeat against Finland and advanced to Sunday’s final game. Christoffer Edlund and Martin Landström scored Swedes to two-goal lead before Norway opened their scoring, Felix Ljungberg finding the net from corner stroke.
Goals from Joel Broberg, William Arvidsson and Pontus Vilen took Sweden to good lead, until Norwegians scored from another corner, this time by Felix Ljungberg. Goal proved to be Norway’s last, as Arvidsson and Edlund struck their second goals of Saturday and Sune Gustafsson netted the final score 8-2.
Saturday night was full of atmosphere, when United States and Finland faced off in front of over 2700 spectators.
Almost full house erupted first time, when Teemu Määttä scored the opener on the 5th minute of play. Three goals followed soon, as Jaakko Hyvönen, Samuli Helavuori and Tero Liimtainen hit the net. Cullen Munson scored once from corner stroke, but Americans were unable to stop the Finnish goal feast.
Final score was 10-1. Eight players provided goalscoring for the Finns, as Emil Fedorov and Jaakko Hyvönen scored twice and Elias Gillgren, Topi Saukkonen and Niklas Holopainen found the net on the second half.
Final match between Finland and Sweden will take place at 5.30 PM.
