Sweden and Norway take second wins in Women’s tournament

Swedish team continued their solid performances in Women’s tournament. United States showed fighting spirit, but was unable to prevent Swedes from scoring goals.
Swedes struck twice, as Gabriella Aronsson and Sanna Gustafsson scored. United States clawed one back, when Allison Thunstrom lifted ball to the roof of Swedish goal.
One goal was not enough, as the game was decided in the second half. Edit Ljung netted fifth goal for Sweden. Yellow-shirted Swedes scored a few more, final score being 8-1 for the reigning champion.


Hostessess Finland had tough time with strong Norwegian side. Norway took their second win with final score 5-0.

Finland had a chance to score from penalty stroke, but Jenny Isaksson’s shot went wide. Norwegians celebrated then two goals by Laura Follesø. Finland got another penalty stroke, but this time Iina Lempinen’s shot was saved by Stine Pedersen. Isabel Robertson netted third goal for Norwegians in the 40th minute of play.
Second half brought little change. Norway’s defending was solid and Ingrid Tufte scored twice to finish the game off.

Round-robin tournament will be concluded on Friday. Norway and Sweden will decide the winner, while Finland and United States battle for 3rd position.
