Bandy is picking up speed in Pori – Nordics undefeated after two games

Host nation Finland faced Hungary after midday. Match was attended by schoolchildren from Satakunta. Their enthusiastic support paid off as Finland took their second win by fairly large margin as they won the match 19-0.

Scoring was opened by brothers Ässämäki – Tatu assisted and Tuukka put the ball between pipes. Emil Fedorov netted Finland’s second goal from corner, scoring the 100th goal of the tournament.
Nine Finnish players succeeded in scoring goals. Tuukka Ässämäki, Emil Fedorov and Niklas Holopainen celebrated hat tricks.
Finnish head coach Ari Holopainen was happy after the game.
– It has been great so far. Lots of people watching us and conditions are good. This is what it should be.

Second gameday was opened by Sweden and Netherlands. Sweden continued their strong start after Monday’s record 34-0 -win against Hungary, defeating the Dutch eventually by large margin.
William Arvidsson scored the opening goal after one minute of play. Dutch team managed to hold back Swedes for a while, but eventually strong Swedish side got their game going.
Even though Dutch netminders Twan Hengst and Jolan Prudon put out a heroic performance against Swedish barrage of shots, the final score was 28-0 for Sweden.
Sweden’s Christoffer Edlund scored eight goals. Martin Landström collected nine points with three goals and six assists. William Arvidsson scored four goals, adding his tally for tournament to 13 goals.

Norway had somewhat difficult start in Tuesday’s last game, but prevailed. Final score against USA was 13-3 for Norwegians.

United States scored twice to take 1-2-lead after 22 minutes of play, when Michael Fabie and Kyle Osterberg put the ball past Norwegian goalkeeper Marius Leroe.
Norwegian coaching staff decided to take timeout, which proved effective. Norwegieans soon tied the game and took commanding lead, halftime score being 7-2.

Second half did not change the big picture, Norway being the controlling side of the game. Last goal was scored by Americans, as John Snodgrass netted the ball in the last minute of the game.

Eigth Norwegian players celebrated goals. Felix Callander scored a hat trick, Isac Jerner, Fredrik Nordby and Marius Andersen struck twice. Fritiof Hagberg tallied five points with one goal and two assists.

Wednesday will be action-packed day full of bandy. Finland and Netherlands open the day early in the morning, as the game between two nations starts at 8 AM. After three games of men’s tournament it’s time for women to take the stage.

Opening ceremonies of Women’s tournament will begin 4.30 PM and first match Finland-Sweden will start at 5 PM.
