The International Bandy Federation (FIB) has confirmed the match schedule for the Men’s and Women’s Bandy World Championships to be played in Pori on January 12–18, 2026.

The men will start their matches on Monday, January 12. The women, in turn, will begin their campaign on Wednesday, January 14. The opening ceremony for the men’s tournament will be held on Sunday, January 11. and for the women’s tournament on Wednesday, January 14.

Six countries will participate in the men’s tournament: the USA, Norway, Sweden, Hungary, the Netherlands, and Finland. Four countries will take part in the women’s tournament: the USA, Norway, Sweden, and Finland. There are therefore a total of ten teams in the World Cup and the match schedule is tight.

“We aimed for ten teams for the games and we got that. We are very pleased with this,” says Antti Parviainen, Chairman of the Finnish Ice Hockey Association and Secretary General of the World Championships.

“Finishing the competition program took time and also required long negotiations between different countries, but in the end a match program was found that satisfied everyone. “Every team will face a huge physical load during the week, with the pace of play being one game per day for each team,” Parviainen adds.

Volunteer search begins

The World Championships are carried out by volunteers. The Finnish Ice Hockey Association, together with the organizing club Narukerä, is now launching a search for volunteers for various tasks.

“The World Championships in Finland and Pori are a historic event. I really hope that those interested in sports will volunteer at the event. A wide variety of tasks are available at a very low threshold, both before the games, during the games, and also after the games are over. “The interest has been extensive in advance and now we are eagerly awaiting registrations,” says Jani Raukko, chairman of Pori Narukerä.

For registration, the Finnish Ice Hockey Association has created a separate registration form, which can be found on the Finnish Ice Hockey Association’s website and on the Finnish clubs’ own channels.

Ticket sales for the World Cup also begin in October. Ticket prices are very moderate.

“We promised that the Games would be very accessible. That’s why the ticket prices are very affordable,” says Antti Parviainen.

Schoolchildren and students from all over Satakunta are also coming to the early week’s day matches.

“We are also investing in a nice side program on the artificial ice rink in connection with the matches. We are collaborating with students from the region to help us with this. The goal is to have great community World Championships,” Parviainen concludes.
