Bandy fans are in for a unique winter celebration as the 2026 Men’s and Women’s World Championships will be held at Pori’s artificial ice rink from January 12–18, 2026. By decision of the International Bandy Federation, the championships return to Finland for the first time in 25 years – and Pori has the honor of hosting this historic event.
A New Chapter in Finnish Bandy History

The tournament will bring the world’s top teams and thousands of spectators to the city, who will experience the fast-paced and spectacular winter sport at its best.
– “It is a great honor to have the Bandy World Championships in Pori. This is a unique opportunity for both the city and Finnish bandy as a whole,” states the chairman of the Finnish Bandy Association, Antti Parviainen.
Narukerä’s Anniversary Year and Community Spirit
The championships coincide with the 60th anniversary season of Pori’s Narukerä. The club’s chairman, Jani Raukko, describes the atmosphere:
– “The World Championships are a huge effort for us, but we are approaching it with great enthusiasm. Pori will showcase true community spirit – even stands made of snow are being planned.”
Narukerä’s own and national team player Samuli Helavuori is eagerly anticipating the tournament:
– “The news of the World Championships in Pori feels surreal and incredibly amazing at the same time. It is a great dream to play a World Championship tournament on my home field.”
The City’s Shared Celebration
Pori’s city manager, Lauri Inna, emphasizes the significance of the event:
– “The World Championships strengthen Pori’s position as a year-round event organizer. This is a great opportunity for the entire city and Satakunta.”
